Module 5

Well it is very soggy Saturday so I decided to work through another Module.

The Podcasting video on Youtube was informative and I now understand what Podcasting is and how to go about creating and uploading a podcast. It is obvious that this technology has many uses in education.

I immediately thought of how a storyboard collaboratively constructed by the ESL students I work with would enhance their learning and add an element of fun. Rather than write a particular text type the students could use a flip video to film the illustrated storyboard  and then use audacity to add the narration and sound effects.

The New Literacies for a New Age video just reminded me of how history repeats and how the methods and technology might change but in many instances the attitudes to change don't. As professionals we need to keep up with the technology this has never been more important as for most of our students this technology is an integral part of their daily lives which they use without thinking about it.

As for downloading from iTunes fortunately I'm familiar with the process as my iPod is currently on holidays in Sweden with my daughter as surprise surprise she couldn't find her own. If you saw her room you would understand what I mean!!!!!

Module 4

Flickr was fun once I got the hang of how to use it. I loaded my own photos so I know there won't be any nasty copyright issues.

I am enjoying the Web 2.0 course the biggest challenges being slow internet at school, finding the time to complete each module and thinking of something to write in each blog.

The easiest way to overcome slow internet at school is to work at home, to get around the time challenge I get takeaway so that I can use the dinner preparation and cooking time to complete a module. As far as finding something interseting to  post I have decided to just write about whatever.

I just love this ship!!!

Yeah! I have managed to  successfully upload one of my photos from Flickr.
